songaia2Thank you so very much for the thoughtful phone call yesterday. Although I did not recognize your voice at first, I knew it must be you. Bob, Noah, Mason, Sandy, Paul, Alex and Matthew were all here to celebrate and we had a great time.
One gift I had requested was the montage of Noah and Mason at their Olympiad event. They are beautiful. Bob brought me a bottle of wine from the winery on Lopez Island where he spent a few days with Mason on their cycling trip. Sandy made my birthday cake and their family brought me a carnation plant.
Grandpa asked me the birthday questions - needless to say, the event of this past year was learning of Grandpa Fred's "new Assignment: of journeying with ALS. The challenge/what I am looking forward to - caring for Grandpa Fred and myself so I will remain healthy. The other is being intiated as an elder of the Songaia. I know that my community and family are ready to support Fred and me as we take this journey together.
I intended to send you some money for your birthday but forgot your account number. I will give you a check when you come home. You will need some money then too I guess.
We will be away on Karyn and Jack's wedding day but plan to visit and celebrate with them either before or after that day.
I can't believe you will be home in a couple of months. It will be great to hug you and be with you again. Take care, Ilaria and remember that you are dearly loved.
