Hello everyone!!
It was so great to read all of your sweet messages you wrote! I miss you all very much, and hope you are all doing well!
Today is my first day off ( I get one every Thursday:) and I got to sleep in! I was a bit bummed though because it was wet and cold out when I woke up:( But now the sun is out at last!
My flight here was very excellent, but the bus rides very difficult because I had so much stuff, thank the lord there were very nice people along the way who helped me! I arrived in Thornbury very tired but excited,I first met Sabina and Jana (Pronounced Yana) both co workers, blond and German! I like them both very much, although there English is not so good:)I live with Sabina, Jana, and Manuell (not sure I spelled that right)who are my co workers and all three are German!! I also live with Sylka (my house mother, also German) Bob (her Husband), and
Then there are THE CHILDREN, which I must tell you about!
Shamick:
I met him first and does he like to talk! He is originally from India, but moved here when he was born. He usually is good, but gets nervous easily, likes to copy other children and hates bed time. He is so funny though and always makes me laugh, he like to ask you if you are "goofy?" I always say " No Shamick, I'm Minnie Mouse, are you Goofy?" this makes him laugh, he always says "no of course not!".
Isabella:
She has very little forms of communication, but make certain noises, and gestures to get our attention. We are trying to get her to say more words, and to be more polite. We always ask her " Bella happy?" if she says "happy!" we know its a good day!
Joseph:
He never comes out of his room unfortunately, and hates school! I have only seen him twice and Sylka usually works with him.
I hope to be able to work with him soon!
THE HOUSE:
It is very nice, and other then the occasional disruptions from the children, is very orderly. My room is very small but nice, and I finally put some pictures up on my walls.I have tiny bed that likes to squeak a lot, and a good sized desk!I also have a room key, and my room is locked at all times. I also have some very ugly black crawly friends who like my room as well ( Kali don't worry I killed them!)
Mom don't worry I have plenty of time to get ready in the morning, I only need about 15-30 min!
We have three meals a day together, and we all help to prepare the meals and to clean up afterwords. We only have to make breakfast and dinner, lunch is cooked for us, and is the best meal of the day! We eat very well here, we get a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits from the garden, which is beautiful and looks like the one from the Secret garden! We also get really good milk from the farm down the road, which I love to visit every day with the children after school! They have horses, big cows, chickens, ducks, baby and momma pigs, and a new baby calf only ONE day old ( Kali, Noah and Mason you would love the farm so much!).
SCHOOL:
Well I have only been in the school for three days, but its the best part so far! I love the children very much, even when I get frustrated. I have been working with the Senior class the most and Oliver is my favorite. He is the least motivated by far, he always asks " We go home now?" or the most obvious " Ilaria's here!" he is so sweet even if he never likes to work. Many of the children are sweet , friendly and get work done, you just have to help them along!
MY CO WORKERS:
Well I like my co workers, its just....their all GERMAN!!! Seriously, Garima I think I live with more Germans then you! All except, me, and two other girls, one from India and the other is from Brazil. I at first felt very sad and missed being able to speak English the way I do at home (still do sometimes) but now its ok...when they realize there speaking German and apologize. Daniel is another favorite...he makes me laugh so much just by the questions he asks me. When he first met me, he asked if I drove a Hummer?...what?! then If my dad had a shot gun (hahahaha! sorry about that daddy! I told him NO though!)also if I had a big house, and if I had a big sweet 16!! I Told him to stop watching M.T.V and that I have a very normal family! He told me that he likes me very much because " I'm not so American".I am finally starting to feel like I fit in, and can actually sleep through the night (at last!).
I really feel like I'm slowly making connections with the children and my other co workers.
Sorry for such a long post, I just have so much to tell you all!
I hope I answered most of your questions...send me a comment if not!
I also would love to know how things at home are going, school, work etc...
I miss and love you all very much, I got to get going I'm going to try and walk around Thornbury before it starts to rain again!
I love and miss you all very much!
P.S. Pictures are on the way!
